Renee Elise Goldsberry was introduced to One Life to Live viewers in the role she created of defense attorney extraordinaire Evangeline Williamson in February 2003. The role for Evangeline was initially intended to only be on recurring status, however Renee was put on contract in April of that same year. In this role, Renee has garnered numerous accolades, least of all being an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 2006.
Born in San Jose California, Renee was raised primarily in Houston Texas and Detroit Michigan. Excelling in her studies she graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University with a B.A. in acting and then went on to attend and graduate from USC with a masters in vocal jazz performance.
An all around talent, Renee has lent her talents to the Broadway in the pivotal role of Nala in Disney's The Lion King. Previous credits and roles include a national tour of Dreamgirls, the movie soundtrack for Steven Spielberg's Amistad, and a recurring role as an on camera singer on Ally McBeal. While starring in the independent film, All About You, Renee co-wrote the majority of the soundtrack including special honors to the title song. All About You garnered the 2002 Grand Prize at the Pan-African Film Festival, the Hollywood Black Film Festival, and received top prize at the 2003 Miami Film Festival. An actress and a singer, Renee has performed with some very well known artists in the industry. Barry White, Al Green, Yolanda Adams, Whitney Houston, Vonda Shepard to name a few. Renee's first album, Everything But the Kitchen Sink, includes three John Lennon songwriting awarded songs.
